Baby Boy
Today I have been married for 3 years. We're going to the theater to celebrate. I am the proud mother of a beautiful baby boy. He was born in October and is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. We love it when he smiles at us.
*Stories about life and knitting* Occasionally, I create yarn or knitting patterns that I might post at hummingbird.etsy.com Other than that, I have a husband and a cute pup.

I just got back from my first bike ride in about 15 years. I was a bit rusty and couldn't figure out how the 21 or so different gears worked. In the end, I think I figured it out and would like to go biking again this week. Actually, I think I only figured out how to use the lower gears...
I have finished the front and back and one sleeve for A Walk in the Woods. I've done just a bit of the 2nd sleeve, then I will need to do the finishing and the neck.I also weighed my skeins for the Hanne Falkenberg Mermaid 7.
Lilac= 2 skeins at 55 grams each.
Aubergine= 2 skeins at 50 grams each.
Purple has 7 skeins:
6 skeins= 45 grams
1 skein= 25 grams.

I'm working on the pattern from Nature Speaks Knits called A Walk in the Woods. I knit this about a year ago in blue in 100% mercerized cotton. It was beautiful, but it kept growing to the point it was not wearable. So here I go again, but this time it is in a cotton rayon mix. I'm thinking that the rayon will keep the cotton from getting out of hand. It's a variegated yarn, and I know the sweater would be nicer in a solid color as it was the first time, but I wanted to use this yarn from my stash and am hopeful about the fiber content for the pattern. My camera batteries are charging right now, so a picture will come another day.
This is my new Hanne Falkenberg kit for Mermaid 7. Seven means that it is the purple color combination: Purple, Lilac and Aubergine. I have 7 skeins of purple, 2 each of aubergine and lilac. I'll weigh them also, but I need to find my scale.
This was a birthday present from my wonderful in-laws and husband. I made out really well this year by informing everyone of my 17 item birthday wish list ;)
I'd like to start knitting the mermaid this weekend, but I have a large stash problem, so I'm going to rush to finish my current project as incentive to start the purple mermaid. When I start, I believe I will do a provisional cast on as others have suggested at the knitalong.
A few months ago, Erik and I got a cute puppy Lily. Now Lily is about 7 months old and very much part of our family. We love her and take her out in the car with us as much as possible, except when it is too hot. Being the cutest dog ever, she is a mix of a Lhasa Apso and a Bishon Frise. Erik says she looks like a little bear.
