Duplex Offer

Last night we made an offer on a duplex. The seller countered, and so did we today. Now I'm waiting to see if they will accept it. If we don't get this one, Erik and I will try one more home; if that doesn't go through, we will live with his parents.

Wedding Planning

So far we have set the date for December 17, 2005 at 1pm. We have music for the reception and I am going to have my grandmother's wedding dress from 1953 altered so the arms will fit me. We have started our pre-marital counseling and have a class on Saturday. We have a cake tasting on Sunday morning and an appoinment with a florist the following week. There are so many details and I'm also house hunting because my lease is up in one month! It is all very exciting, but I'm just really excited to be with Erik!

We're Engaged!

Yesterday was our 1 yr. anniversary, so Erik planned a day for us with clues leading to 4 events. The first clue sheet had obscure flower names, so I guessed that we were going to Powell Gardens. It was beautiful. I was hoping he would ask me on our anniversary, but when he didn't at the gardens, I thought it wouldn't happen that day. Then he gave me clues about a movie I've been wanting to see (Herbie Fully Loaded), it was really fun. Then we went to evening church. Afterwards, he read me more clues about our next place. It was to "our spot" by the lake in Lion's Gate, a subdivision, where we watch the sunset and the birds (geese at the moment). So we sat on the blanket and he read me a note that he wrote in November when we had been dating for 4 months. He wrote that he loved me and that he new I would make a great wife and mother. It was a sweet note. Then he didn't do anything for a few minutes, so I thought it wasn't going to happen, but then he gave me another clue. The first was "you," 2nd "me," 3rd "forever," 4th "Look at me." Then he got down on his knee and asked me to marry him. I said yes! Then we hugged and prayed together.

The ring is beautiful, big and sparkly. I can't believe how cool it looks.

His parents had a surprise for us when we got back to their house. They had pretty purple flowers and a mini carrot cake. We each got a gift, his box had a dark green bow and mine had a purple bow for our favorite colors. I got blue crocs, candles, a necklace, and chocolate. He got BBQ grilling attire and mits. They wrote us each sweet cards about how happy they are for us.

Then I got on the phone and called family and friends to tell them the good news.

House Hunt

Once again I am house hunting. My lease is up in a month and a half, Nana and Papa think I should buy a place so that Erik and I won't have to live with his parents when we get married. I see their point, but it is hard finding a decent place that I can afford. Tonight we have an appointment at 6 to see a condo. I hope it is a good one. Then, depending on the time we finish, I will go to no idle hands to work on a special project.

This coming Sunday is our 1 year anniversary. We are going to go for a walk at Powell Gardens. I'm excited, I haven't been there in 10 or so years.

Attacks in London

The past few nights I haven't been sleeping well. So after a night of tossing and turning, my mom called me at 6:30am to say that terrorists had attacked London and that I should call my friend Hayley. When I got to work this morning and emailed her, I got the autoreply that she was on vacation leave until the 13th. Then I remembered that she went to Turkey; I highly doubt they will bomb Turkey this week, so at least my friend is safe!

The 4th of July was fun. We had a burger party with Erik's parents and brother's family. It was also a joint family birthday party, so I gave some hand knit socks. I hope she likes them. Erik and I watched the local fireworks.

I've been knitting and reading Crewel World by Monica Ferris. It is a needlework mystery, so I have really been enjoying it. I can't wait to find out "who done it." I think I'll get the sequels, maybe some on ebay and some at the yarn shop.

Tonight I'm going to dinner with Heather after Weight Watchers. She is going to tell me all about her love life. Then I think she is going to come to No Idle Hands with me. I always have so much fun hanging out with Heather. It is nice having a life-long friend.
